Today's Pinch of Positivity comes from the lessons I've learned during one of my favorite episodes of Netflix's Black Mirror. "San Junipero", is a modern-tech-focused Romeo and Juliet tale, with a twist. Two women fall in love inside a virtual afterlife and teach us the value of time and happiness. With all the odds against them physically on Earth, they create their own happiness together in the beautiful heavens of San Junipero!
[Season 3, episode 4]
San Junipero is originally set in the 80's and follows the story of Yorkie, shy and innocent, and Kelly, a wild child. This afterlife reality is an innovation that allows elderly people to transfer their conscious into the virtual afterlife they call San Junipero. If you watch San Junipero closely you will find out the detailed lives of both Yorkie and Kelly in real time.

The entire San Junipero world really got me thinking about key things I could take away. In the episode, both Kelly and Yorkie chose to take a leap of faith together and change the course of their dreary fate. Some people believe that being happy comes with a price and that outlook can keep you away from some of life's greatest opportunities.
Don't be afraid to be happy!
1. Don't let a past relationship influence dating.
Your chance of meeting a great person could be right around the corner. Allow yourself to be present & open.
2. Don't hold back your feelings.
If your unhappy, talk it out and create a resolution. Hiding your feelings will lead to resentment and built up anger.
3. Don't confuse being in love with being comfortable.
Familiarity is the breeding ground for contempt and unhappiness.
4. Don't settle.
If you're alone, that's perfectly fine. Learn to create happiness for yourself.
5. Don't obsess over things you can't control.
Life is unpredictable, so enjoy all the time you have with the people you care about most.
6. SHOOT YOUR SHOT!
Go for it! We only have one life to live. Whether it's quitting your job to pursue your dream, changing your major or asking out your crush. You will never know what makes you happy if you stay comfortable.
